Helpline - 299-4855
Experienced, well-trained volunteers respond with non-judgmental empathy to callers in stress. All calls to 299-4855 are confidential, anonymous and free of charge. This is a safe place to vent frustration and hurts, explore options or ask for a referral.
TEEN LINE Provides a safe place for teens to vent their feelings to a non-judgmental listener. Volunteers are willing to listen to the issues which concern teens, such as peer pressure, drug and alcohol use and abuse, sexuality, academic performance, and personal relationships. TEEN LINE is a place to call when teens are lonely or afraid or when they don't know where else to turn. TEEN LINE also provides a referral service to other agencies offering services to teens.
Kids Line is a service for elementary school-aged children which offers support for children at home alone or in need of someone to listen. Children may want to talk about their problems, share stories, or tell about the events of their day. Kids Line provides a caring adult listener and a safe place to talk. Not to replace 911, but as an additional resource, Kids Line is often added to the emergency numbers working adults leave by the phone for children.
Reassurance - 509-7711
Reassurance CONTACT offers regularly scheduled calls to elderly, handicapped or homebound people who have limited contact with the outside world. A CONTACT Lancaster Helpline volunteer takes a few minutes to check on the client's well-being and give assurance that someone cares. In some cases, a CONTACT Lancaster Helpline volunteer may be the only person a Reassurance CONTACT client talks to for days at a time. Reassurance can mean a lot.
Deaf Contact - 299-7184
Deaf Contact gives deaf and hard-of-hearing people an opportunity to find emotional support. Deaf Contact is also a relay link between local deaf and hearing communities. In an emergency situation, a CONTACT Lancaster Helpline volunteer will connect a deaf caller with an interpreter.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline - 1-800-273-TALK
Kristin Brook Hope Center - 1-800-SUICIDE
CONTACT Lancaster Helpline is one of more than 100 national centers who answer 1-800-273-TALK and 1-800-SUICIDE calls. Calls to the CONTACT Lancaster Helpline Center originate in the 717 area code and surrounding areas. Depressed persons call one of these numbers, as well as persons contemplating suicide or friends and relatives of people in crisis.
CONTACT Information and Referral Service directs callers to appropriate agencies by using a frequently updated computer file of community resources.
Answering Service provides telephone coverage for community based assistance programs, either 24 hours a day or after normal business hours. CONTACT Lancaster Helpline provides this service to the following:

One of the community services offered by CONTACT Lancaster Helpline is a competent, enthusiastic, and available Speaker's Bureau.
