Reassurance CONTACT - 299-7388 ext: 3123

Reassurance ImageWould a telephone call from someone who cares about you or someone you love who is shut in brighten the day? Would it comfort you to know that if you fell or became ill, someone would send for help - even if you couldn't call for help or answer the telephone?

Reassurance CONTACT is a program of Lancaster Helpline, which provides such care for you or your loved one. Trained volunteers make scheduled calls to elderly, handicapped or homebound people, who have limited contact with the outside world. These volunteers maintain regular contact with each Reassurance client, checking on each person's well being, helping obtain needed services and encouraging and supporting those who live alone.

When someone becomes a Reassurance CONTACT client, a trained volunteer will make a daily telephone call, at a prearranged time, from the CONTACT Lancaster Helpline telephone center. If there is no answer, the Reassurance volunteer promptly contacts the emergency numbers provided by the client. A neighbor or relative will make certain the client is safe and gets assistance if needed.

Who is eligible to Receive Reassurance CONTACT calls?

  • Elderly individuals, who live alone and have few regular contacts.
  • Handicapped people who are homebound.
  • Temporarily homebound people, following an illness or recovering from surgery or a hospital stay.
  • Elderly individuals, whose families are on vacation, may also arrange for daily Reassurance calls.

How can reassurance CONTACT help you?

  • The Reassurance CONTACT volunteer will take a few minutes every day to talk with you about what is going on in your life.
  • The Reassurance CONTACT volunteer will help you find the services you need to manage your situation and be as independent as you are able to be.
  • The Reassurance CONTACT volunteer will make sure you get help if you need it or cannot answer the telephone.
  • A CONTACT volunteer is always available to you by telephone 24 hours a day. Call CONTACT Lancaster Helpline at (717) - 299-4855
