Deaf CONTACT - 299-7184

image of TTY/TDD machineSince 1979 CONTACT Lancaster Helpline has provided a communications link between the local deaf and hearing communities. Through the use of a TTY relay link a hearing caller can contact a deaf person. Using the same technology a deaf caller can "speak" with those who can hear.

No call is too small or too large. A call for pizza delivery is as important as a call to announce a birth.

In an after-business-hours emergency situation, CONTACT will connect a caller with an interpreter.

Additionally, having a TTY allows CONTACT Lancaster Helpline to act as a "listening ear" to the deaf community. Any call that would be appropriate for hearing people, such as; Help Line, Teen Line, Kids Line, Suicide Hopeline, etc. can be handled by a trained CONTACT volunteer.
